Blue Cross of Idaho’s headquarters renovation earned second place in the Renovations category at the Idaho Business Review’s 2024 Top Projects Awards—a well-deserved recognition for a transformation that redefined one of the state’s most respected institutions. As Idaho’s oldest and most trusted health insurance provider, the completion of this multi-phase remodel marked an exciting new chapter in creating a workspace that reflects the organization’s progressive culture, collaborative spirit, and long-standing commitment to community wellness.
Across several years and multiple phases, HC Company partnered with Blue Cross of Idaho and Babcock Design to renovate more than 230,000 square feet of occupied office space, upgrading nearly every area of the Meridian campus. The scope included high-end finishes, large-scale restroom remodels, new mechanical and electrical systems, and the complete replacement of office furniture systems to support modern, flexible work environments. Each phase required detailed preconstruction planning, early budgeting, and continuous coordination with the design team and building occupants to minimize disruption to daily operations.
Working in an occupied setting demanded clear communication, careful phasing, and disciplined scheduling to ensure business continuity. HC Company’s approach balanced safety, quality, and schedule management—resulting in a seamless execution that allowed Blue Cross staff to remain operational throughout construction. The collaborative relationship between the project team, architect, and client played a key role in the project’s success and helped strengthen a lasting partnership between HC Company and Blue Cross of Idaho.
